Bea's father Brian is an equine doctor who committed suicide at the age of three. Bea didn't learn how her father passed away until she was thirteen. Her stage name Bea was a tribute for her father. Bea wrote an opinion piece in The Guardian, published in 2017 about her experiences with suicide. Bea as well as her younger sister Sinead and her sister Sinead, were brought up by Helen Moloney (n e Moloney), a former jockey as well as a teacher at a secondary school. The family was awed by horses, races as well as the race industry. Bea spent her childhood as a tour guide for the Irish National Stud.
